The Free South Band have been told that nobody in the music industry has the nerve to produce music like that found on the Free South CD, because everyone these days is trying so hard to be politically correct. But that did not stop the members of The Free South Band from doing it.
He
met Craig Hendrix of Potts Camp, Mississippi at one of the festivals Cornelius
produces and became friends. In the process of trying to help Craig get
his music produced and published Cornelius sadly came to the realization
that he was an arm chair rebel. "It hit me like a ton of bricks that I
too had a lot in common with Craig's Southern Heritage music themes. Craig's
songs "Ain't Gonna Go Away" & "Don't Mess With Dixie" reminded Cornelius
of songs he had written in the past and made him think, "Hey! I've got
a bunch of songs about southern life too!" The Free South Band became
the outlet to record and release these songs. Next
into The Free South Band line-up came Elvis Carden who lives outside Atlanta
and had recently been in discussions with Cornelius about publishing some
of his music. Elvis had watched them take his state flag and brought to
the project the song "American Rebel" which is a tribute to all soldiers
of the confederacy, past, present and future which is heavily influenced
by his experiences as a military veteran. "Southern Thang" shares Elvis
views about Yankee, Hollywood and UN pressure on southern culture and
tells them what they can do with it. We had a collection of songs for
the heartfelt message we were being called to get out the message so thus
magically became the CD from The Free South Band. Every song on the CD
is true and meaningful about our homeland. One of the main reasons we decided to go ahead with this project and pour all our resources into it was the fact that nobody else would do it! "Everybody here in the Nashville music business is trying to be so politically correct and scared to touch Southern Heritage Music. "We're proud to be from the South and our heritage is just as important to defend if we are expected to respect the heritage of others. In an effort to promote Southern Heritage and recruit more arm chair rebels to stand up and be counted and to generate awareness in the general public, The Free South Band was formed. The debut CD "Free South" was produced and released November 1st on the Mississippi State Capitol steps at a rally for Pro Southron gubernatorial candidate John Thomas Cripps of FreeMississippi.org. Our message is about heritage and not hate. The line is drawn. You can try to remove or rewrite history but you cannot change what happened. You can now hear the song "Dixie" played again and the song "Toast to Dixie" has a special message for Jessie Jay. The die is cast and the gauntlet is thrown down. Finally a breath of fresh air for southrons who have been aching for pro Dixie and Southern Heritage music. Bringing the battle to your community soon. Show your support and spread the word. Like the song "1865" says. "There's more here to see than meets the eye."
All songs can now be sampled. Song samples can be played through RealAudio player by clicking on a song tile. Download the free RealAudio player if you do not already have it, by visiting www.realaudio.com.
