Ain’t
God Good?!!
How
many songs do you hear everyday? Do you sometimes hear a song for
the first time and WOW, does it speak straight to your heart? I
was In North Carolina on Inspiration Park and heard “The Bear Hunter”
sing “It Wasn’t The Nails That Held Him There”. Part of it says,
“10,000 angels all hovered round, they would have come and taken
HIM down, remove the nails with loving care, But it wasn’t the nails
that held HIM there!… not for crimes that HE had done.. For HIS
loving mercy HE gave HIS life for me..”
How
many verses in the Bible do you read everyday? Do you sometimes
read a verse you’ve read a hundred times and it ‘jumps out’ at you?
In reading Psalm 98:4 “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all
the earth: make a loud noise and rejoice, and sing praise..’
the words ‘make a loud noise’ jumped out at me. God said,
“Don’t be ashamed of your faith ..speak out loud!!!” How many People
do you see everyday? Is there sometimes one who ministers to you
in a special way? That doesn’t mean there aren’t many who touch
your life!
In
the Methodist Protestant Church we have many ‘dear friends’ who
touch our lives. I’d like to mention one lady who has touched my
life. She has been an example to me for over 21 years. LESSIE CARMICHAEL!
I could write many things about her but I’d just like to say ‘Thank
You’ for your love for our Lord, the Methodist Protestant Church,
Bro. Carmichael and me. You’re a blessing to know and love.
My
favorite verse in the Bible (if you can have a favorite verse) is
Psalm 103:1 "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is
within me, bless His Holy name together.”
Let us continue to Bless his Holy name together!!

Praise
God
by Carl Young
Greetings
in the name of the Lord. I have proof that the Lord is still on
the Throne and is still Lord of All! As you know Roger Smith has
taken the call to Ministry in our church. This was not an easy road.
He has been our choir director and as I see it associate Pastor
for quite a long time. The Lord saw fit to close a door that we
as a church thought was open, but as HE IS LORD, He knew just when
to close it and faithfully open Rogers heart to His will. I have
been a long time friend of Roger Smith and his wife Teresa and can
tell you it was a total uplifting of spirit in all of us! He has
changed, but as I see and know it to be for the Best.
Dr.
Bruce gave just the right sermon on Wednesday night for Roger and
us all to feel the need of Voluteerism with the church and our Pastors.
Thank God for pulling his Train into the Mississippi Methodist Protestant
Conference on time once again. I,as assistant delegate felt the
presence and love of the Lord all during the Conference.
Praise
the Lord for good men to step up to the gap.
Some
of you may not know but I have been in the Gideon ministry for 10
years and will or do speak at churches, regular if needed. Praise
God for His goodness!
Life
after T.V.
In
college I made the decision not to have a TV. I’m now 48 years old
and my kids are grown and in college or have careers. Well-meaning
people sometimes told me that I was on the wrong track. “you can’t
protect them from everything. They’ll have to live in the real world
someday.” But things haves turned out pretty good so far.
What
was life like after the TV was eliminated?
1.
We talked to each other: When I was growing up in my parents’
home, the TV had everyone’s attention. For these last twenty five
years, though, I’ve lived in a home where our focus has been on
one another. It’s rather pleasant.
2.
We read: Our kids grew up thinking that reading was important.
They all did well in school. They seemed to have read more than
any of their peers, and even now there’s never a day when each doesn’t
have at least one book that he’s reading. Usually there’s more than
one.
3.
We thought: Certainly many people think as well or better than
we, but I’m sure that our own mental abilities are better now than
they would have been if we’d spent a thousand hours with the kind
of TV programs that disgrace the average home. Reading and radio
both seem to engage the mind in a way that TV doesn’t. Also, by
seeking out alternative media, we’ve sidestepped the one-sided liberalism
that dominates the major networks.
4.
We get stunned looks from people: “How do you keep up with what’s
going on in the world?” “Aren’t you bored?” And my favorite, from
a teenaged girl: “What does your furniture point at???” I’ll admit
that it’s a strange way to live, but it does work; and people’s
reactions are sometimes as entertaining as a TV show would be!
Many
people have responded to me, “If my children were still growing
up, with TV the way it is today, I don’t think I’d have one, either.”
But I think to myself, if it isn’t fit for kids, can it be fit for
adults?
I’ve
been told that I should get a TV and “control” it. I could probably
control a water moccasin, too; and it might even prove easier to
control than a TV. But in both cases I think that the danger would
outweigh the advantages, so it seems best to just keep them out
of the house altogether.
There
really is life after TV. Try it and see.
