Jenkins' Trip to Myanmar March 2004:
On March 22, 2004, I flew to Myanmar from Singapore. I arrived there about noon and was met by a delegation of ten people, one of which was Mang Herh, the leader of the group. I was given two bouquets of flowers and greeted very warmly.
Myanmar is a country of about 50,000,000 people and about 5 million live in the capital city of Yangon. We stayed for four days in Yangon and visited the work that they had there.
The purpose of my trip there was to see Mang Herh and the group of people associated with him because they are interested in becoming Methodist Protestants. They had heard about us from the ICCC in the far east. They have 7 churches and a Bible College that has 16 students.
On Monday evening we got settled into our hotel room and visited with Mang Herh.
Tuesday, March 23, 2004, I visited some of their Sunday Schools in the slums and several of their house churches. I preached in one of the services. I met a good many of the leaders and workers of this group.
Wednesday, March 24, 2004, I met the leaders for a discussion about the Methodist Protestant Church, concerning what we believe about several different doctrines. It was a good meeting.
I left from Yangon on Thursday, March 25, 2004 and flew back to Singapore.

THE GREAT COMMISSION - OUR COMMISSION - A REALITY CHECK
(Presented recently at the 2004 MS Branch by Josie Summers, former missionary to Belize)
How Am I Doing?
Go and make disciples of all nations -
How are we going?
- Support those who go: (by) personal pledge, special offerings, part of church budget.
- Praying for those who go: Do you pray specifically for a need? Are you aware of the latest needs? Do you continue to pray until the answer comes? Do you have a reminder that calls you to prayer? Do you pray daily or (just) in meetings?
- Work Projects - do you participate in work projects? Do you help others financially to go? What are your talents, and what ways can they be used?
- Is your vision limited? Have we broadened our vision? Do we still have a passion for the work? Do things seem routine? Have we reached out to new areas or nations?
Acts 1:8 Witnesses in Jerusalem
- How has the
WMS strengthened your church? Do most of the ladies participate in the
programs? Why or
why not? What do you do for your church family, your pastor, your congregation – the
elderly, the youth, the children?
- What can you do to get others interested in the work? Interesting programs? Special projects? Do you plan your year and then work your plans?
Witnesses in Judea- Has your church seen new families come into your congregation? Have people received spiritual help at your altars or in private times?
- What has been done to help the weaker churches in the conference through
lay workers? What efforts have been made to plant new churches? How do we work
together for the building up the Kingdom.

Southeastern WMS
The semi-annual meeting of the Southeast Zone WMS was held at the Neely Church, March 14, 2004.
The
meeting opened with congregational singing. A beautiful presentation of
the song “On My Knees” in sign language was shared by Jessica Stevison. “When we all get to Heaven” was
sung in accapela by Carmen Cochran, Penney Dearman, and Lessia Anderson.
These ladies did an outstanding job.
A wonderful devotion was given by Velma Harrison reminding us we as Christians should be in one accord with the Lord as the center.
The
business session opened with a short devotion by President Margaret Hogan,
taken
from Lamentations, on God’s faithfulness and His steadfast love and mercy.
There were 15 ladies present from Clear Creek, Hickory Grove, Laurel and Neely. The Neely Church received the banner for largest attendence.
The
Zone’s
project for this term was to assist three members of the Clear Creek
Church attend the summer VBS in Belize, with a donation of $100.00 each.
Following the meeting we had a time of fellowship and a excellent meal prepared by the ladies of the Neely Church.
Please pray for our zone as we continue to strive to do our Lord's work.
Next meeting will be held at Antioch in Magee on Sept. 12, 2004.
