2003
On
May 11, 2003, the Lettsworth Methodist Protestant church held a
Founder’s Day/Homecoming Day event. Founder’s day stood for all
the people involved in starting our church in 1967. Homecoming was
for getting all these people and their families back in Lettsworth
for a celebration of honoring the founder’s of the church or charter
members as they are called. At least 140 people made it to this
event.
Brother
Harold and his lovely wife made it to the celebration. He and his
wife spoke highly of the work Bro. Lloyd and Mrs. Ruby have done
over the past 36 years. Mrs. Ruby Mayeux was honored with a day
of her own. May 18, 2003 will be recognized by the conference as
Sister Ruby Mayeux day.
Awards
were also given out. Our oldest charter member which is Bro. Bill
Kimble is in his 80’s. He was honored with a plaque from the church
for his support of God and his country. We also gave a plaque to
a deceased member’s family in his honor for all the work Bro. J.B.
Leger did around our church. Sister Ruby was honored with a plaque
for her dedicated service to the church and all of its members.
Bro. Glen Mayeux and Sis. Carrie Sue Mayeux were awarded a plaque
for the dedicated work of filling the shoes of Bro. Lloyd and helping
Mrs. Ruby . No one can even come close to imagining what Glen had
to go through to get to where he is today. A confident young preacher
who only gets better with time.
The
church had a large plaque made with all the names of the charter
members put on it. We will hang this in the church for all to see.
Our church plans to have a large picture of Bro. Lloyd made and
hung in the church. This will be for all his years of service to
the church and its members.
And
last but certainly not least our music people were given an award
for all the work they do in the church. These beloved people are
hardly ever thanked and almost always forgotten. If it weren’t for
them and the music they play I dare to say some souls may not have
been saved and brought to Christ Jesus. Music awakens the heart
and lets the Holy Spirit enter. This way God can get in and get
people where they should be in HIS eyes.
The
church and its members wish to thank all those involved in the cooking
(Marvin Cazelot, Alan Dauzat, Faye Cazelot) and cleaning (Shauna,
her mom Mary and Shauna’s sisters). Thank you all for everything
that you have done to help us out.
And
last but not least the church and its members wish to thank our
grounds keepers. These two people are a young married couple that
we appreciate very much. They are Randy Mayeux and Christi Mayeux.
Randy cuts and weed eats all the grass while Christi keeps up our
flower bed. These young people also donated most of the flowers
that adorn our church grounds.
God
Bless all

The
Lord blessed us all with beautiful weather for our morning services.
The church bell rang (with the help of Brother Alton Russell) for
Sunday services to begin. These wonderful old songs “Jesus Saves”,
“Heavens Jubilee” and “Everybody Will Be Happy Over There” got our
day off to a good beginning. They were led by Bro. Steve Price.
The
Sunday School lesson “The Transfiguration” was taught from Matthew
17:1-13. Golden text; “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased; hear ye him.”
Our
heartfelt sympathy goes to the family and friends of Lawerence Mims.
Please remember to pray for our sick and shut-ins, our country,
military and leaders. We welcomed all our visitors and were very
glad to see Peggy Pearson with us again.
Happy
Anniversary to Betty and Earl Caton on the 28th of this month.
The
worship service began by congregational singing and for our special
song, Brother Dennis Smith and Brother Alton Russell sang “After
All”. A blessing was received by all. Brother Jeff Carroll brought
a powerful message titled “Desperation” taken from 2nd Timothy and
Mark ch.3. As always Bro. Jeff preached a very good sermon.
Things
have really been happening at Cedar Grove,.We had a wonderful crowd
for our cook-out Saturday evening; home made ice cream, hot dogs,
hamburgers & all the things that go with it.
One
member was thought to eat the Red Hots as fast as they could be
cooked, wonder who that was? A good time was had by all.
Our
Sunday night service keeps getting better and better each week if
that is possible, larger crowds, wonderful singing, great messages.
The specials were sung by: Sam Price, Sandra Carroll, Amelia Hubbard
and Alton Russell. Bro. Jeff’s message was taken from Romans ch
6;1-5 "Life’s Greatest Offer." What a great time to
praise the Lord for His goodness to us all this week. Next Sunday
night, July 6th our associate pastor, Brother Heath Vines will be
bringing the message. We think he is one of the best young pastors
we have ever known. You will be blessed to come hear him preach.
He is also beginning a Bible study beginning this Wed. night, 7
P.M. July 2nd for the teenagers and young adults in the fellowship.
Come and join Brother Heath in this study every Wed. Night at 7
P.M.
Remember
the singing at Cedar Grove, Sunday July 13th at 5:30 P.M. Guest
singers will be “The Kelly’s” from Lawerenceburg Tenn. Cedar Grove
is located 3 miles south of Thorsby just off Co road 37. Everyone
welcome. For more information call 646 2390.

I
am so proud to see a Methodist Protestant Church website!!! It looks
great! Very professional and user friendly. It’s really a nice touch
to include pictures of various things, too, because it makes everyone
seem a lot closer. There are currently no MP churches in Alaska,
but being able to check out the website sure does make the miles
shrink.
How
is everyone doing? We are expecting our first child in August. She
is a girl and her name will be Tia.
Has
there been any more work done at the General Conference Headquarters?
I would love to see pictures if you have any.
Please
tell everyone hello for me and I miss them.
God
Bless you all. Hope to hear from you sometime.
