The Name
Q: What is the significance and pronunciation of your company name?
A: Apologia (ap-ol-og-ee'-ah) is the Greek equivalent to our English word apology (see Strong Concordance word #627). The definition is: "verbal defence, speech in defence" or "a reasoned statement or argument." Christian Apologetics is that field of theology that defends the true faith against those teaching errors. We seek to sell items that likewise accomplish this, both in the area of theology, as well as matters of early history issues.
The South, Slavery and the Klan?
Q: I am surprised to find books defending the Old South and the Confederacy on a site owned by professing Christians. How can you support a culture that promoted slavery?
A: The culture and history of the South and the Confederate States of America were distinctively Christian, albeit they fell short of the biblical standard in some areas. You may be interested to discover that the Bible does not condemn the institution of slavery as such, but only the mistreatment of slaves (Leviticus 25:44-46; 1 Timothy 6:1-5). Furthermore, much of what is put forth in today’s history books about the Old South is a myth. We would ask that you peruse with an open mind the many free articles that are available in the online reading section at www.pointsouth.com.
A quick starting place would be:
Q: You have some titles listed on your website which contain ideas some people would consider quite controversial and even offensive. Do you endorse these ideas, and if not, why do you sell such titles?
A: The majority of the titles we sell are historical reprints and have been selected for their value as research tools for the serious student of American history. As such, we do not necessarily endorse everything each author had to say. The past is the past, and sometimes it was not pleasant; we cannot change what happened or what people have believed, but we certainly can learn from the past so as not to repeat the mistakes of those who have gone before us. We believe Cicero was correct when he said, "To be ignorant of what happened before you were born is to be ever a child." Modern-day "political correctness" has prevented many Americans from taking a mature and impassionate look at their own history, and that is one social malady that we have dedicated our efforts to combat.
Q: You sell some titles related to the Ku Klux Klan. Are you members/supporters of them or any other "hate" groups?
A: The material we sell are historical writings about the original Ku Klux Klan of the Reconstruction period, and they were disbanded in the 1870s, and therefore we are not members of that group. The name is in the public domain and is now being used by several different groups which have no connection whatsoever to the original. We are not members of any of those organizations either, nor do we believe in the doctrine of a "White Adamic race" or "Christian Identity" which they all seem to have in common. We carry the titles in question strictly for their value as historic resources.
Your Order and Our Return Policy
Q: How long will it take to receive my order?
A: Normal delivery time from the day we receive your payment is seven to fourteen days. Our goal is to ship orders as soon as we receive them, but circumstances do not always permit this. Most items we carry, if out of stock at the time, can usually be back in stock within a weeks time. We attempt to have the entire order together to ship at one time, so we ask for your patience in the event of such a delay a delay. If we determine that a missing item is going to take longer than two weeks for us to receive, we will normally ship what is in stock and the remaining item(s) when back in stock.
Q. What, if any, is your return policy on your items?
If an item is in anyway received in damaged condition, or it turns out in any way defective, we will glady exchange it for a replacement of same item.
If you receive an item, and have decided after ordering that you do not wish to keep it, and it is still unopened and able to still be sold, you may gladly return it. We will refund your original purchase price, minus shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
